How long will your custom cabinet project take? The useful answer is a schedule built around the approved scope, current shop queue, material availability, site readiness and finish system. A general article cannot promise a completion date for an unreviewed project.
1. Design and Planning
Start with the room, storage needs, project city and available photos or plans. We review measurements, layout, appliance and sink information, materials, finish and hardware. Drawings are reviewed and approved before fabrication. Revisions and unmade selections can change this stage.
2. Scope Approval and Scheduling
Confirm the current drawing revision, written scope, selections, responsibilities and the payment terms stated in your proposal. We confirm project timing separately. An inquiry or an initial conversation does not reserve a production or installation date.
3. Material Ordering
Cabinet materials, doors, drawer components, hardware and specialty items must suit the approved design. Availability and supplier lead times vary. A change in wood species, hardware or product specification can affect the schedule.

4. Fabrication and Shop Preparation
We fabricate the cabinetry and complete shop sanding and preparation. Project size, construction details, door style, storage accessories and custom components affect the work involved.
5. Delivery, Installation and Full Field Fitting
Our standard custom-cabinet workflow installs and fully field-fits the cabinetry before final finishing. Joining, scribes, fillers, panels, toe kicks, moldings and adjustments are completed at this stage. Walls and floors, access, appliance fit and coordination with other trades can affect installation.
6. Protection, Final Preparation and Finishing
We protect and contain the work area, complete final preparation, and apply the approved paint, stain or clear finish. Masking, floor and travel-path protection, dust control, ventilation and cleanup are planned for the space.

7. Cure, Reassembly and Completion
The finish system determines the required cure and handling conditions. After curing, we complete hardware installation and reassembly, final adjustments, touch-ups and cleanup. We review operation and any remaining items with you.
What Affects the Total Timeline?
Scope changes, material availability, drawing revisions, site readiness, trade coordination and finish cure requirements all affect the schedule. A partial kitchen update, a fitted pantry and a full custom kitchen have different scopes. We discuss a realistic schedule for your project rather than applying one fixed timeline to every job.
How to Help the Project Stay on Track
Provide current plans and appliance information, review drawings carefully, approve samples and selections, keep access available as agreed and tell us about changes early. Coordinate countertop templating and any required plumbing or electrical work with the people responsible for that scope.
