Cabinet Modifications

Partial kitchen updates for Austin and Central Texas.

You may not need to replace the entire kitchen. Keep the cabinetry that works and improve the sections that do not. Our Hutto cabinet shop reviews additions, appliance changes, storage upgrades and selective replacement.

Choose the right amount of cabinet work

Start with the condition of your existing boxes, the layout you want to keep, and the change you need. Suitable cabinets can sometimes stay while we add or replace selected sections. Water damage, weak boxes, poor appliance clearances or a major layout change may make new cabinetry a better choice.

Changes we can review

  • Refrigerator and appliance cabinets: review enclosures, upper-cabinet height, opening dimensions and changes around replacement appliances.

  • Cabinet additions: added base, upper or tall cabinets; pantry storage, islands and coffee-bar cabinetry.

  • Partial replacement: replace a damaged or poorly arranged section while retaining suitable surrounding cabinetry.

  • Storage improvements: review drawers, shelving, doors and fronts, hardware, organizers and selected trim changes.

Appliance specifications come before fabrication

A refrigerator opening is more than its advertised width. We review the manufacturer’s required ventilation, door swing, hinge projection, depth, service access and nearby drawers or doors. For another appliance, send its exact model and installation specifications. Cabinet drawings need to account for the finished opening and how the appliance will be installed and used.

Matching new cabinetry to existing

We review the existing door profile, construction, face-frame or frameless layout, reveals, finish and visible panels. Older finishes can change with light and use; a new stain or paint batch may not match perfectly. We explain these limitations before approval and may recommend a deliberate contrast, a larger coordinated section or refacing suitable surrounding cabinets.

Refacing retains suitable boxes while replacing or upgrading visible components. Refinishing prepares and recoats suitable existing cabinetry. A modification changes cabinet function or dimensions, or adds new cabinetry. The best scope may combine these approaches.

Drawings, field fitting and completion

  1. Review: send room photos, your city, the desired change and appliance information. We assess what can stay and what needs further measurement.

  2. Approve: confirm cabinet drawings, dimensions, materials, finish, hardware and the written scope before fabrication.

  3. Build and fit: install cabinetry ATX builds or supplies, allowing appropriate scribes, fillers, finished ends, trim and adjustments for the actual room.

  4. Finish: follow the agreed protection, preparation, finishing and cure sequence. Our normal custom work is field-fitted before final finishing; any prefinished exception is confirmed in the scope.

ATX coordinates its cabinet scope with you and your trades. Plumbing, electrical, structural and full-remodel work need the appropriate project professionals. We do not offer labor-only installation of customer-supplied cabinetry.

What will it cost, and when can it be done?

Price and timing depend on the cabinet changes, materials, finish, hardware, matching work, access and current availability. We confirm the estimate and schedule after reviewing and approving the project details.

Send the cabinet problem you want to solve

Include your project city or ZIP, wide room photos, close-ups of the existing doors and boxes, approximate dimensions, appliance specifications and intended timing. Tell us which parts you want to keep. Photos and drawings help the initial review; final dimensions must be verified for the actual cabinet work.
